First of its kind research sheds light on mysterious fireballs

Ken Obenberger, now at the Wright-Patterson Air Force Research Lab, recently received his PhD from the UNM Physics and Astronomy department. Together with Professor Gregory Taylor, Dr. Obenberger has discovered a new type of low frequency radio emission from large meteors entering the Earth's atmosphere. The discovery was made using the Long Wavelength Array.
